When this blog was put up many years ago, I did numerous rantings about my cats.

Today one by one, they left me. It was saddening but such is life. Even people you know, fond of, will come and leave.

I will always remember my cats who spent some really happy moments with me.

Then one foggy Christmas Eve
Santa came to say:
"Rudolph with your nose so bright,
won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"

For some reasons, I no longer hate smurfs. In the first place, I do not hate them. I claimed to hate them because, just in case, they hated me first. So I decided that I will hate them to do the upper-hand trick.

It didn't work.

I decided to put a post in this left-alone blog just to send my fond regards to those who still keep me in their lists - for whatsoever reasons.

Thanks for having this blog in your list - whether intentional or otherwise.

Merry Christmas and may your New Year be a peaceful and loving one.

Down Syndrome - genetic?

If time permits, this would an interesting area of research, particularly heredity and early intervention.

Down syndrome (also Down's syndrome) or trisomy 21 is a genetic condition resulting from the presence of all or part of an extra 21st chromosome. Down syndrome is characterized by a combination of major and minor abnormalities of body structure and function. Among features present in nearly all cases are impairment of learning and physical growth, and a recognizable facial appearance usually identified at birth. It is named after John Langdon Down, the British doctor who first described it in 1866.

Individuals with Down syndrome have lower than average cognitive ability, normally ranging from mild to moderate retardation. Some individuals may have average intelligence overall, but will generally have some amount of developmental disability, such as a tendency toward concrete thinking or naïveté. There is also a small number of individuals with Down syndrome with severe to profound mental retardation. The incidence of Down syndrome is estimated at 1 per 800 to 1 per 1000 births.

The common physical features of Down syndrome also appear in people with a standard set of chromosomes. They include a simian crease (a single crease across one or both palms), almond shaped eyes, shorter limbs, speech impairment, and an enlarged tongue. Health concerns for individuals with Down syndrome include a higher risk for congenital heart defects, gastroesophageal reflux disease, recurrent ear infections, obstructive sleep apnea, and thyroid dysfunctions.

I read parables and philosophies
written by fellow LJers.
I am impressed by many
especially you-know-who and you-know-who.
But for all the "interns"
who are trying to do so
a few suggestions to throw in here:

1. Watch your grammar - bad ones kill instantaneously what you want to say.

2. Simplify your statements - amateurs do not connect well with complexities.

3. Be understood - you are just level 1, don't talk level 10 spells.
Tasteful ambiguity comes with experience and intelligence.

4. Imagination is good until no body knows what you are imagining.

5. You can challenge Great Philosophers
but apply for a doctorate course first and do proper research.
Don't waste time here looking silly.

6. Read and learn from the truly wiser ones around.
Don't duplicate - the tendency is always there but don't do so.

and finally,

Hopping around in a little well, hoping to change the world doesn't work.
When others say you are stupid, do not be defensive and blabber in return.
Just reflect.

Now you know why I avoid philo-logic.

1) I am nice to everyone because my mother taught me to be so. It doesn't mean I like everyone.

2) I am fully convinced there's an agenda in everything people do. Including myself. Sincerity is only a word to get the agenda through nicely.

3) I like to sound stupid and raw. Sun T'zi taught me never to let others capture your level of wisdom.

4) I like to see things in the dark because it's easier to get away with things through ambiguity and it brings about less disappointment.

5) I believe good deeds beckons good returns and bad deeds beckons the same. If not, I will always do something about it to make sure it happens according to this belief of mine.

6) I believe in popularity. But if one cannot be popular because of residing factors, then it is easier go the other way. Be infamous.

Sometimes,
no,
most of the times,
it is more interesting
to read the comments to people's postings
than the postings themselves.

I often
and always had unintentional giggles
when confronted with comments of all sorts
not in my lesser blog particularly
but in the more popular ones.

An advice I have to bestow on those
who want to put comments for the sake of
letting the poster know
I do read your blog, so love me
use emoticons
rather than trying to string up some intelligence
which most of the time
does not fit in.

So and so posted some lyrics
and the world thought he/she is in love.
Well most of the world ie.
and tried to comment on this romantic trend.
Upon revealation
everyone sounded stupid.
Things would have gone better
if only an emoticon is used.
Say :) or :O or even :X
It presents one's presence
yet does not sound trying too hard.

This is just one of the many observations
I have made.
No no, I am not caustic,
such things do happen.

All you have to do,

My cats killed another snake after the morning slaughter.

I came back in the evening,
I found another victim on the couch,
but it was about 2 feet long - dead.
Cats did it.
Fortunately, my super dad was around.
He discarded the snake as if it's not a big deal -

"Aiya only 2 feet, nevermind one", he said.

There are snakes in my house.

I walked into the Art Gallery today.
I looked at the various artworks.
With all due respect to the various perspectives of appreciation,
they all looked crap to me.
Nothing but obscene splatters of colour.
My Oh-I-Am-So-Artistic colleague ran me down,
stating my lack of artistic perception,
for not being to see the beauty in the artworks.

Her statement said it all.
So "artistic" she is.
